Postby Ginji-kun » Tue Jan 27, 2009 12:05 pm

And the suggestions are open for what should be in the anime room this year. Also please give suggestions for any J-drama series that you can recommend.

J-Drama:
Gokusen (Comedy)

Anime:
- Axis Powers Hetalia (DVD will be out by April/March, I think) (Comedy/History)
- CHAOS;hEAD (Psychological/horror)
- Hyakko (Comedy)
- Kuroshitsuji (Comedy/drama/horror?)
- Maria + Holic (Shoujo-ai/comedy)
- Skip Beat! (Comedy/romance?)
- Soul Eater (Action/drama)
- Toradora! (Comedy/romance/drama)

That's the decent, newer anime that I can think of right now that I've been watching. =x Otherwise there's Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae, but ehhh seeing as how that's the third season... Same with Minami-ke Okaeri.

I wouldn't mind watching Haruhi or Lucky Star again. Also, Gurren Lagann would be immensly popular (I think). Oh, and I second APH!!!! <3

For the anime, either Girls Bravo or Mahoromatic. Girls Bravo is just so **** funny!!! Although, it does have a bit of nudity in it......

I was trying to do my best not to do repeats from the previous year, but there is something about Gurren Lagann that is just so awesome that make me think, yes, yes we have to show it again.

I try not to show anything that was on TV, unless it was highly edited or has some major difference to it. For example Gurren Lagann, has a different style of episode for 6. The TV presents it more as a clip show, while the DVD version shows it with more risky comedy.

My suggestions come from the severely old school this year (also this is my list for the Dub Room with exception of a couple choice titles):

Robotech
The original Macross (seeing as the new one came out last year)
Original Gundam (can't remember the name it has been a while)
Otaku No Video
GunBuster

just some thoughts to get the Newbies some stuff that really got the ball rolling for the stuff they have today.

(realizes that he is sounding like an elitist but doesn't really care)
Sam: Cas! What happened to you?
Castiel: I found a Liquor store....
Sam: And?
Castiel: I DRANK IT!

Gunbuster? No problem. Already grabbed the Gunbuster movie to show this year.

come on you know I have to throw my two cents in with some yuri suggestions.
Simoun
Strawberry Panic
Candy Girl is cute but short, like 15 min eps

kemonozume is good but odd. It's adult (not intentionally hentai but adult) and has a freaky art style but good story
along those same lines I loved Kaiba. I know people don't like the art but the story is awesome.

I will make my yearly suggestion of Macross 7. Hopefully not starting at the begining this time. (Great series, but it takes forever to get going.) I suggest starting on episode 25.
"Now All we need is a little Energon, and alot of luck"

End of line.

Maybe that or like episode 7 or 8 when Max and Miraya come in. Get some of the old Macross fans in.

I watched the J-drama Seigi no Mikata last year as it came out. It's really funny and has a great cast. The Honey and Clover drama is good as well. There's also a new one out starring Kenichi Matsuyama (aka L from the Deathnote movies) called Zeni Geba, but as far as I know, it hasn't been subtitled in English yet. If it is before the con, I'd love to see it there though!

In terms of subbed viewing, in lieu of anime, you could consider Moon Child.
"Look Mr. Bubbles. It's an angel. I can see light coming from his belly. Oh wait. He's still breathing. But don't worry. He;ll be an angel soon."
