Attack on Titan Cosplay Belts?

Postby NeptuneFanatic » Thu Jul 04, 2013 8:23 pm

Well, I guess I've decided to make a cosplay for Sasha Braus from Attack on Titan. The thing is, the belts are freaking me out. I doubt I'll be attaching the belt with the leg belts together because that's a lot more work than I think is needed (it's a harness, which is why they'd be attached to each other.) In my reference picture, I'll be doing two thinner belts and wrap them around each leg, for four total. BUT, what do you suggest I do about the ones that are more angled/wrapped that go towards the boots? Possibly hot glue those together, but how will I make them fit and wrap down like they do? Image

What are you planning on making them from? That will help in determining what to do.

Ok, so let me see if I can explain this without any kind of picture ref...

Looking at how the angled belts sit, it looks like one end is attached to the back side of the two wrapped around each thigh (can't tell you for sure without a back angle of the character)

So, what I would try is attaching it to the back (Probably with a heavy-duty snap or buckle, as close as comfortible to the inner thigh to get the angle right) and actually wrapping it around the leg, snapping it again where it meet up front, probably using another snap there.

I hope I explained that good enough to understand without actually showing how its done...

Here are several imgs that might help explain what the straps are doing.

To lay them out properly, I would get a friend with a similarly sized and shaped leg and lay out the pattern with masking tape, or have the friend tape up your leg.
Take measurements.

As for how to attach it all, that depends on the material being used.

If you are not opposed to using black vinyl for the straps, I have quite a bit extra I could give you.... It sews easy and is durable (when doubled over to have black on both sides) and makes a great strap/belt. PM me if you are interested. I've used some for my Admiral Sadri cosplay so I can show you some pix....
Garp the Fist
Kiato syncronicity v.
Hetalia Imperial Japan
Dieshuu Kaiki..5 versions!
Admiral Sadri Fam
Tomomi Masaoka
