NEW Guests Request thread, 2013 Edition!

Postby Hoshi » Thu Nov 08, 2012 10:22 pm

Hello Everyone!

Here is the place for all of you people to let me know what new people you would like to have at the convention. This would be anyone who was NOT at Youmacon in 2012.

If you'd really like to help me out while I'm putting lists together, please include particular roles and projects that they are known for, so that I can gauge popularity and interest. Posting a guest that has already been suggested is ABSOLUTELY FINE, as it let's me know who is more popular.

Thank you everyone for your input, and I hope that we'll be able to get some of these new faces out for you in 2013.

-----

Here is Bo's post from last year's thread, illustrating how I would like things to be formatted:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's that time, but once again let's try to keep a unified format when requesting guests, while keeping it short, sweet, direct, and relevant.

We ask this so it is easier for us, the staff, to go through the list without missing anything. At the very least, please BOLD and/or increase the font size oft he guest's name, and if listing multiple guests, please put them on separate lines. This makes it 10x easier to sort through the requests, and reference the posts at our meetings.

I'll provide an example below... which is actually a request. ^_^

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Hayter

Anime / VG Works: Along with lending his voice to various 'other characters' in several anime series' during the 90's, David is probably best known as the english voice of Solid Snake / Naked Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series, and Sean Barker in the live action movie Guyver: Dark Hero.

Other Works: Most of us will instantly recognise him as the voice of Snake, but David is also an accomplished screenwriter. His works include X-Men, X-Men 2 (story and screenplay), The Scorpion King, and Watchmen.

Fun Facts: David speaks fluent Japanese, and is the only voice actor to play through all of the Metal Gear Solid games. (edit, this may be wrong, Josh Keaton may have done this feat as well)

IMDB:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0371684/

Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hayter

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The more organised your request is, the more likely it will be to catch our attention. Remember, we not only look for Japanese guests and voice actors, but also relevant internet guest, and those in the video games industry as well.

Thanks!

Roger Craig Smith

Anime / VG Works: Roger's most iconic role is ironically one of his most recent. Since late 2010, Roger is the official voice of Sega mascot Sonic the Hedgehog. Smith has plenty of other popular characters under his belt, though, including (but not limited to) Chris Redfield in the Resident Evil series, Assassin's Creed 2's Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Sigfried in the recent Soulcalibur titles, and Deidara & Idate in the Naruto anime.

Other Works: Aside from games and anime, Smith's resume includes various other characters such as Thomas (and many others) in Regular Show, Curtis Miller in Resident Evil: Degeneration, and Captain America in Ultimate Spider-Man and the upcoming Avengers: Assemble.

Fun Facts: In addition to his acting skills, Roger is also an accomplished drummer/percussionist.

Richard Epcar

-Popular internet personalities who regularly go to conventions
-Known for their humorous Let's Plays
-EgoRaptor does anime/video game related flash animations and videos online
-JonTron does game related videos on his youtube page
-They'd have some fun wacky antics at Youmacon

Mega64
-Known for their Youtube videos where they run around and act like idiots in public while dressed as and acting as game characters
-Pals with Jon "Doug Huggem" St. John
-Do I need to say much more?

Bit of a stretch, but why the hell not?:

-Known for voices in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Animaniacs, Pinky & The Brain, Metal Gear Solid: the Twin Snakes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, Fairly Odd Parents, Teen Titans, Danny Phantom, Porco Rosso and all sorts of other projects
-He's from the area, so he might be more willing to come to a convention in Detroit
-Admittedly, he's not really very anime, so he wouldn't fit in all that well if Youma is looking primarily for anime/video game VA's
In Soviet Russia, signature reads YOU!

2012 Plans:
Deadpool (with or without Hawaiian shirt)
Naked Snake (with or without Skull facepaint)

Spoony, Quinton Flynn, Gidon Emery, Piano Squall (Who I have been begging for SINCE 2006)...

But I doubt anyone is actually going to take my requests seriously and actually invite them. With the exception of this year, not a lot of voices are heard when it comes to guests, so why do these threads even exist when it feels like our voices are never heard?
