Re: Youmacon Complaint/Concern/Compliment thread

How did I not see this thread when I checked on here constantly for almost a month after the con @.@ Anyway, here's some of Duke's thoughts: 1. First, I want to say the guests this year were fabulous and I know that the convention may not be have a lot of control over guests having more than one mee...

Platinum Badges, sale?

I got an email saying that the Platinum Badges were going on sale like the 3-day passes for a pre-Thanksgiving sale. When I followed the link, the tickets are almost $30 than last year after fees? Is $150 going to be the regular price for the Platinum Badges or is this really the sale price? And why...

Re: Shout-Outs!

Now for a real shout out... I always have to shout out to the other Masquerade competitors! You all are lovely people! When I first entered last year, I was surprised at how welcoming and friendly everyone was; it was a competition yet no one was cold! I continue to enter not only for the fun of jus...

Re: Bioware

Trying to power through Cullen and the Inquisitor @.@ Was focusing on my Masq. skit cosplay so I'm really down to the wire on these two. I hope I can get them done in time! You can do it! Apparently, this is what cosplay is all about...? I'm usually done before this time, so I know how you feel. I ...

Re: Two weeks left! (okay more like 1.5 weeks...)

Doing fairly well this year! My skit cosplay is almost done, mostly having to finish casting things and that's about it. I have 2 other cosplays that I'm working on that will be a close call. Both are over 50% done so I'm hopeful! For once I'm not stressing. The last two years were stressful for me ...

Re: Count Down Till Down Town

Ugh, I don't know if I should panic or not yet! Like Kosai, I work a 40 hour job (though I'm there longer than that and often work longer hours) and at the moment, I think I only have plans for this Saturday and that's to go over the masq. skit I'm doing with 2 other people. The costume for the skit...

Re: Makeup Advice

Even if you don't need the correction, it's always good to get the exam for the training and for a professional to say you can use plano lenses.

Good luck! I have to get mine set up soon too...

Re: Makeup Advice

I worked as an EyeCare Advisor for 2 years, so please forgive me if I end up going on a speech about contacts and eye care >.> I COMPLETELY agree with simply_mad about seeing an eye doctor. Some people will say that they've been wearing contacts without having been to an eye doctor, but you run such...

Re: Pink Insulation Foam Question

Ok, so... I coated three different pieces of foam with mod podge, gesso, and plastidip five times each. The mod podge is crap it seems when coating foam because the paint doesn't really stick. The gesso works really well, because it's suppose to help acrylic paint stick to different surfaces. I don...

Re: Pink Insulation Foam Question

Gotcha! I'm newer with props as well, that mask is really the first thing I've completed, though I have a ton I'm working on for this year, one of which being a sword that will probably get plastidip on it if I can't afford Worbla (which could also be a nice option, though it a bit pricier). No worr...

Re: Pink Insulation Foam Question

Would that mean that I put it on before the paint job or after? And would that be the only protected I needed for it? :o Thanks! It would go on before you would paint it as you would want it to look. It puts a rubber/plastic coat on the foam so it should protect it (they have a version of it in a c...

Re: Pink Insulation Foam Question

I would recommend Plasti-Dip, you can get it at most hardware stores. It's a rubber coat spray and since it is an aerosol, you would want to spray at least 12 inches away because if too close, it will eat through and bubble the foam.
